April 2005

An Update..!!

I can't believe its been so long since I wrote some news but that just
proves time flies when you're having fun!

In January I had the honour of playing at Air in Tokyo which is one of my favourite clubs and places to go to clubbing, shopping, eating and crazy nights out. Taka, who promotes and djs there, is one of those special people around the world that's committed to dance music against all the odds. You can download the set in the webcast section.

In Feb the highlight had to be the Passion 10th Birthday with some geeza called Tiesto. That club is still one of the best in the world when everyone cheers at once.

March and the suprise gig for me was in Derry, Northern Ireland. I've had
some mad experiences (landing at Creamfields in a helicopter for one), but there was 150 people trying to get into the club door as they weren't
letting anyone else in....including me! So I stood outside chatting with the
clubbers until I got in through a back door. When I finally got on stage it
was a rocking gig...finishing with total chaos on stage and bouncers pushing people into the crowd. Mutiple body surfing!!

April saw the launch of my new night G6 where I play six hours (mostly classics) and introduce new talent. The first one was in the Red Room of Passion but I think I took too many records. With 5 boxes I realised I could have played more 30 hours! Anyway it was great fun and I got to introduce Mark Eteson who could easily be a double for Armin Van Burren. Let's see if he's got what it takes to get into the A List djs! Anyway the next G6 night is at Godskitchen on May 21st in the second room. Hope you can make it and until then you download the set here... There's also my April Ministry Of Sound Mix show with 2 hours of upfront new music as well. Again, you can download the sets in the webcast section.

Till next time...Cheers!

UPDATES!!

Sorry I haven't updated the site with news recently....as well as great gigs I've been so wrapped up in the management company during the week. We've taken on new Djs like Mark Eteson and helping develop Jon O'Bir as well being proud to announce Ferry Corsten will be joining the agency along with Breaks Master, Ali B. Check out the management site at www.ornadel.com for more news.

I know it's some time ago but I've been wanting to thank everyone in Lithuania for a show earlier in the year. The enthusiasm for dance music out there was amazing and I can't wait to play in more countries like this. Anyone that's been to my shows will know I'm still enjoying playing just as much as always - Gatecrasher in Edinburgh was a firm favourite this year as was Liberation in Burnley (where the after party and my drunken bar fall will be long remembered!). I'll be playing at Escape In The Park on Aug 14th but because it's two weeks apart from both Global and Cream it was too close so I couldn't play at those shows. It's a shame but I'm still happy that 42,000 clubbers went to Global and hopefully the same will go to Cream. It's great that clubland can still mass the forces like they used to when the event is right. I'm also looking forward to Inside Out in Glasgow on August 28th - they really know how to throw a party!

If it's music you're after I hope you can join us on Thrs for my Ministry Of Sound show (August 12th) from 4-6pm but then available in the archive secton. Also for some old mixes I've uploaded my Licensed To Thrill mix , the Slinky Mix CD and the Muzik Magazine covermount that I had never realised brought so much pleasure to people....but that's what good music is all about.

See you on the Dance Floor!

USA FUTURE TALENT

DJ/Manager prodigy Guy Ornadel is setting out to find and break new DJs in 2004. Having Dj'd in virtually every country in the world for over the past decade, Guy knows all too well that there is fresh and hot talent out there that is virtually unknown. These days, if you're a new DJ, as good as you may be, it is simply impossible to get a break.

Guy has set out to change all that by introducing the Future Talent Competition. The rules are simple. Admission price into the venue gets you an entry form. Bring down one cd and one picture and you are in. One entry per person, per admission cost.

The winner will then be announced at guyornadel.com, and will be given an opening slot along side Guy at various US clubs later in the year.

The winner will also be featured on Guy's monthly Ministry Of Sound Internet Radio show which reaches over one million listeners, as well as be opened up to a plethora of other various opportunities to be announced. For more information on Guy or Nettwerk please visit guyornadel.com or nettwerk.com.

UK FUTURE TALENT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

First, I want to thank everyone who sent in their cds for the competition. I've listened to 430 mix CDs over the last three months so forgive me when I say I'm glad the comp has closed now!!! Secondly, apologies for the mistake earlier. There was a slight breakdown in communication and the wrong details were posted up. Below is the correct information!

One thing that became really clear to me was the high level of DJing out there. The scene is full of AMAZING DJs who haven't broken yet. I've been really inspired by the level of the mixing in so many and realised how frustrating it must be for DJs trying to get into the club scene. All I can say is keep at it until you get that lucky break...

I soon realised that picking just one winner was going to be impossible. In the end I had to pick an equal selection from the Trance DJs and two from the Progressive DJs. However, I wanted to thank many of the others who came a close second so I've listed a few as well.
