MARK ETESON BIOGRAPHY A Future Trance Hero… Mark Eteson is set to make his mark on the global trance scene in 2006. When someone with such ferocious musical talent (both behind the decks and in the studio), complete and utter enthusiasm and dedication to his art, a happy go lucky likeable personality, and Nordic good looks, comes along, you just know something very special is about to happen. With Godskitchen announcing Mark as their new resident in March 2006, after he has consistently played stunning warm-up sets and final sets for them throughout the past year, is a sign that this young man’s talent is too great to be ignored. The likes of Armin, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, and Judge Jules, are already noting that Mark Eteson’s DJ skills are superb, so his new Godskitchen residency is something to savour. But it’s not just when he’s behind the decks that Mark is getting euphoric reactions from audiences. He has quietly been building up an arsenal of productions and remixes that are being snapped up and supported by the world’s finest DJs. Paul van Dyk is currently championing ‘Atlantic’ ahead of its release on Monster Tunes, and Judge Jules has been giving Mark’s remix of Darren Style’s ‘Dropzone’ support on his BBC Radio 1 show. Mark’s insatiable studio creativity doesn’t stop there. With an ever growing list of productions (watch out for ‘Pure Effect’ on Solaris), and remixes (check Guiseppe Ottaviani ‘Linking People’ on Vandit, and York ‘Mercury Rising’ on Offshore) winning support and respect from his peers, as they appear, it’s going to be hard to ignore Mark Eteson in 2006. Already, Mark Eteson’s DJ and production skills are being utilized by Lost Language offshoot label, Solaris, to mix “Rendezvous 1”. This is the first of a series of compilations, and will be released in May 2006. It will feature some new and exclusive tracks from Mark himself, alongside a showcase of forthcoming tracks on Solaris and other labels. Word from the studio is that Mark’s debut mix has that “goose-bumps” inducing quality. Mark Eteson, a future trance hero? It might well be worth a trip to the bookies before everyone catches on…
A Brief History Mark Eteson has been brought up on music. His father, Bill Eteson, is a musician and has been in a number of bands as well as having released 3 albums. So it was almost inevitable that the diverse and eclectic mixture of music Mark grew up with manifested into a love of electronic music at the end of the 1990's. At school, after his 17th birthday Mark sold his birthday present of a Ford Orion to buy some Technics decks. He never looked back. Because of his musical background he became a technically gifted performer within weeks, and was soon mixing tapes for friends at college, as well as learning how to use low-key production packages. As Mark entered his final year of University studying Law at Colchester, Essex, in 2005, he had to increasingly juggle 3rd year assignments with DJing and producing. But there is no doubt in his mind where he wants to be in years to come. "I just realised one day, while sat in a tutorial, that all I wanted was to be involved in music. Producing, making and remixing it, and then playing it to other people, whether that be a few friends or a huge crowd - so that they can appreciate it with me. That's my joy.”
